The apparel industry is toxic. Right now, your closet is filled with clothing that contains harmful chemicals linked to everything from increased cancer risk to fertility issues.

The Usual Suspects

  • PFAs (Forever Chemicals)

PFAs (per- and polyflouroalkyl substances) are a group of chemicals used to make fabrics water, stain, or sweat resistant. They’re known as “forever chemicals” because they don’t break down easily and build up in the body over time as our skin absorbs them. Linked to increased cancer risk, these are frequently found in many kinds of clothing & athletic wear.

  • Microplastics

Microplastics are tiny plastic particles created when certain materials shed fibers during wear and washing. They can absorbed by our bodies, persisting inside for decades without breaking down, and are linked to reproductive and hormonal health concerns.

  • Phthalates

Phthalates are chemicals used to make plastics softer and flexible which can also often be found in clothing fabrics that we wear. They’re known endocrine disruptors, meaning that as our skin absorbs them, they can interfere with hormones that regulate growth, metabolism and reproductive health.
